In 2007, Alan Chapel and Tina West discovered they shared a passion for making wine. And, with the enthusiasm of true entrepreneurs, they decided to form Allegheny Cellars Winery in Sheffield, Pennsylvania to make and sell their wine with the hopes of making their customers happy.

The results have far exceeded their expectations. With modest beginnings, they continue to grow and receive the awards and recognition desired by all wineries. By 2009 (after two years), they had increased their sales by over 400% and won a small business award through the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry (WCCBI). In 2010, they produced five separate award-winning wines at the 2010 Pennsylvania Farm Show. That same year, they won the 19th Annual Small Business Award in the category of Agribusiness through the Gannon University Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

Never content to rest on their laurels, and “drink in the sweet nectar of success,” Alan and Tina have been looking to expand into additional markets. Looking to become part of Warren’s downtown business growth through organizations such as the Downtown Business Association, Warren MainStreet Program and GRO Warren, with unlimited potential, they are positioning themselves for their next big ventures.

When considering expansion, through agribusiness grants and/or partnering with existing businesses, Tina and Alan contacted consultant Howard Fyock at the Gannon University Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Through their efforts and those of their consultant, they have been developing a plan for Allegheny Cellars Winery to become a household name and be on dinner tables throughout the east.

Making customers happy, while doing what makes you happy… Tina and Alan continue to enjoy life “In the spirit of success…”
